I'm in a podcast mixtape thingy!

And I'm in good company! The guy (sly) did a great job putting together some phat songs. What makes MINE unique is that of all of the mashups in his mixtape, mine is the closest to being an original composition. The track of mine he picked is a Beastie Boys remix I did. The sounds I used were pre-fab jazz loops and samples to create the track. It stands up in the mixtape against James Brown and Bon Jovi and M.I.A. and John Legend! That must mean I'm awesome right??

Nerdapalooza 08 was a freaking blast!

Here, have some pictures!

1000+ copies of Starblazer!!!!!!!

Pimpin' ain't easy

and neither is webdev sometimes. Colonel Panic is still helping, but we're going to go with a Joomla solution. Oh boy!

Also, I'm getting 200 copies of the album delivered to my work TOMORROW, Wednesday and the rest on Thursday. I'll be rolling out to Nerdapalooza with 1000 CDs. I wonder how many I'll sell? 4? 9? 49? CDs are $10 each. Tshirts are $15. A CD/Tshirt combo will be $20. I'm donating 25% of my gross revenue to Child's Play.

Oh, I got a haircut today in preparation for the show! What? I didn't post about it before? Damn! here is the FAQ and more info.

Website Retool!

Guess what? Guess what? Guess what? I've outsourced my website (funky49.com) because I possibly can't compete with the webdev talent out there. Especially The Frobba, aka Colonel Panic (not to be confused with Colon P). His sites are clean and quick and eye-pleasing. Check out this preview of the site to come! Isn't that Saturn V-esque rocket wicked to the coolest? Clearly 99 points of awesome. I did have to upgrade my web host plan a bit to take advantage of his custom code but this is worth it.

Starblazer - In Production and Lyrical Preview!

Dear Steve:

Your project has been sent to production and has an estimated completion date of 07/01/2008. Once it's completed, you will be contacted by our billing department to confirm the shipping method and attend to any final payments (if applicable).

CD cover printing and disc duplication is now underway! Hello Starblazer! Here are some of my lyrics from the track "Wack Attack" with Ham-STAR, dimension and mCRT.

"DMCA doesn't serve me, just companies
controllin' the gov'ment puppet see?
they're paying off the taxpayer hive
acceptin Chinese financed rebate bribes
buyin Chinese TVs to put in their lives
national debt, we're just getting behind
lowest in savings, people still slaving
all time productive to give to their cravings
not me see, I'm droppin' baggage
hip-hop is my stimulus package"

Hip-hop is my stimulus package... see, I used my $600 economic stimulus check to release my album. The money went to an American company (Discmakers) located in New Jersey. If I sell enough CDs at live shows and online and mp3s via iTunes and wherever, I hope to buy that HDTV one day...

Master & Artwork is at Discmakers!

Exciting! The art was finished Friday night and uploaded to Discmakers. Libby had dropped off the art files she did Wednesday night and Christy and I completed the liner notes page, back cover and inside right page. In Adobe Photoshop, we took Libby's cover art and the 3 other panels, exported them as TIFs and dropped them into Adobe Illustrator. From there we worked them into the Discmakers template. We also cooked up a quick art for the CD itself.

The cd master was sent via FedEx after all that on Friday night and arrived this morning. I had forgotten to upload some TIFs (oops!) so they called & emailed me for me to do this. I should have the physical copies on Thursday, July 3 so they can be sold at Nerdapalooza 2008 on July 4+5 !!

While filling out the legal paperwork for Discmakers, I said my record label was "Lucky Black Cat Music". Anther question was the name of the recording studio. I said "Bela's Castle". Kinda gay right? To the right you'll see the black cat that Lazer Libby arted up for the cover. In later posts I'll show you conceptual sketches she did of the cover characters.

I also noticed I had a typo on one of the track names (electrovoodoo instead of electricvoodoo) and an extra e in 'rap-sody in blue period eera'. The first one isn't so bad but the second one is a big WOOPS.

funky49 PRESS RELEASE AND SHIT! NEW ALBUM! STARBLAZER!

Please excuse my ignorance on how to do this properly.

funky49 PRESS RELEASE AND SHIT! NEW ALBUM! STARBLAZER!

I am releasing my first album. It's called Starblazer. It's around 69 minutes. It will be available in physical and electronic formats. It's got a good bit of redvoid and some tastes of mCRT, Ham-STAR, mc wreckshin, betty rebel, sir-up, mc jeff z/dimension. I'm asking money for the thing so I can buy a new computer, a Samsung LN-52A650 television, start a Roth IRA and maybe resurrect that ol' paint chip habit (lead based is sweet!). I have a guy retooling my website and a girl doing wicked cover art and Christy aka MerchGirlRed will be making killer t-shirts. Oh, plus a wild music video with hot dancers. I ask that you please spread this information in some sort of digital and/or analog format. Grazie.

As ian c. rogers says... "Music is the best... have some"
